The teacher at Komyo ReikiDo Melb is Sally Wain, a highly experienced and certified Komyo ReikiDo Teacher. Sally has been practising Reiki since 2006, immersing herself in its principles and techniques over the years. She became a Western Reiki Teacher in 2007, dedicating herself to learning the Western variant of Reiki. However, as she delved deeper into the practice, she found that the Western Reiki system did not fully align with her personal beliefs and teaching style, prompting her to seek an alternative path that resonated more with her values. In 2012, her journey took a pivotal turn when she attended a Komyo ReikiDo (KRD) Shinpiden seminar. The teachings and philosophy presented in this seminar deeply resonated with her, igniting a profound connection and a sense of alignment with her own ideals. Inspired and moved by this experience, she decided to fully embrace the more traditional Japanese Reiki system, following the teachings of Hyakuten Inamoto and devoting her efforts to teaching and promoting this authentic practice at Komyo ReikiDo Melbourne.
She went on to co-host Hyakuten Inamoto, the founder of Komyo ReikiDo in Sydney 2015, then hosted him in Melbourne in 2017 and 2023. She was host of the Kyoto Shinpiden tour in 2024 & Kyoto residential training & retreat in 2026. Sally became the Komyo ReikiDo Australian and New Zealand representative for Hyakuten Inamoto in 2015. Sally hosts the monthly online gatherings with Inamoto Sensei for the KRD community in the Australasian area and the Americas. She is one of the senior teachers in the Komyo ReikiDo International community.
She continues her training with Hyakuten Inamoto and frequently visits Japan to deepen her understanding of this Japanese Reiki system. Connecting with Reiki at its origins has strengthened and enriched her practice.
She is a qualified Classical Yoga teacher and a member of a Japanese Buddhist Sangha. Sally uses her experience to assist students in spiritual growth. Sally is committed to providing her students with a genuine and enriching experience through her authentic Japanese Reiki courses and treatments. She ensures that each individual who participates in her classes or receives treatments can fully experience the myriad benefits of this wonderful healing practice for mind and body. Her dedication to authenticity and her commitment to excellence distinguish her as an exceptional teacher in the field of Reiki.
Komyo ReikiDo emphasises simplicity.
Rooted in the Japanese aesthetic of “less is more,” Komyo ReikiDo presents Reiki in a clear and uncluttered way. Western Reiki systems often incorporate a wider range of techniques, which can sometimes feel complex or overwhelming for students. While “more” may appear to add value, an abundance of techniques can create uncertainty or concern about “doing something wrong.” Over time, this can make Reiki seem more complicated than originally intended.
Komyo ReikiDo maintains that simplicity in practice fosters depth. Through repetition and consistency, students build understanding, confidence, and a more natural relationship with Reiki.
A holistic emphasis on mind and body.
Komyo ReikiDo works with both mind and body, supporting a holistic approach to the human condition. It places particular emphasis on cultivating the mind — encouraging clarity, steadiness, and a calmer way of being in daily life.
Western Reiki systems often focus primarily on physical, hands-on healing. While this can certainly support personal growth, the practice may remain largely confined to the treatment room. In contrast, Komyo ReikiDo encourages students to integrate Reiki into everyday life, allowing the practice to evolve as an ongoing spiritual discipline rather than a modality used only in sessions.
Komyo ReikiDo teaches Reiki alone.
Many Reiki systems incorporate additional modalities alongside Reiki, such as crystal healing, chakra balancing, sound healing, or clairvoyant practices. A number of these approaches were integrated during the rise of New Age movements in the 1980s.
Komyo ReikiDo maintains that Reiki itself is complete. It deserves to be learned and experienced in its fullness — just as other healing modalities deserve to be studied in depth in their own right. Typically, each Reiki level is taught over two days, which provides sufficient time to absorb and practise one discipline. Adding multiple modalities within the same timeframe may dilute the depth and clarity of the Reiki training.
In essence, Komyo ReikiDo honours simplicity, depth, and the integration of Reiki as a lifelong spiritual practice.
